Race and Science
The race construct is a false, unscientific way for human beings to categorize each other to benefit themselves.

An example of this is that white people were plantation owners and black people were slaves. People who believe in racism also assume that because of peoples certain physical characteristics that make them a certain race they have certain personal characteristic that correspond with these physical traits. The truth is that people's bodies look the way they do is because their ancestry has adapted to their certain geographic location. It has nothing to do with their biological composition.

The lesson really caught my attention because of how surprising it was to learn how much I did not know about the subject. About peoples different characteristics and their surroundings over thousands of years. That the amount of melanin in a persons body is due to how close to the equator they live. It is all very interesting.

Racism as an economic system

The black and white race construct started in the 1600's. But 1492 was the nexus of the pre-race constructs. This year columbus sailed for Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain. Columbus needed to show that America could be profitable. To do this he needed labor workers and this lead to natives being put into slavery. The natives died of disease and warfare and many escaped due to knowledge of terrain. This lead to a new system of taking africans from Africa and enslaving them. And using indentured servants from Europe. The indentured servants system died out due to limitations. They needed a final system which became the trans-atlantic slave trade. From West Africa to North America racism evolved into three components. Economic: slavery, political: slave codes, and social: white supremacy.

I feel so sorry for all the innocent natives that were raped and massacred by the ignorance of the europeans. And the fact that this country still celebrates a holiday that supports all the terrible and inhumane things Columbus did, makes me question our humanity.
